Blues and Beyond Catering is growing with the times

After many years at the Rusty Rudder, climbing her way up from cocktail waitress to bartender and eventually landing in event management, Jessica Nathan became a part of the Bethany Blues family. When she came to help manage and grow their catering operation six years ago, she was excited to help create something fresh.

In the years since, Nathan has forged close bonds with both clients and her coworkers. The happy work environment fosters their above and beyond philosophy that is now seeing them through their current stage of growth.

Nathan mans the helm of catering by serving as the thread that connects the client to the catering staff. She’s welcoming, with a demeanor that immediately sets people at ease - a trait that is crucial when helping clients through what has the potential to be a demanding time. Nathan says, “While events like weddings can be stressful, we build parties that will leave you feeling fantastic. I help clients keep their excitement going right up to the day.”

Six years of building has led the Blues and Beyond Catering Group to the point where they are not only expanding, but also broadening their interests. “We’ve built an exceptional culinary team by hiring some of the area’s top dogs.” Nathan says.

The team includes farm-to-table enthusiasts like Chef Mike Rieley and Catering Chef Dominic Pandolfino whose background is in upscale cuisine, and Chef de Cuisine Jordan Bohall who came from Baywood. They are backed by a service team who will do whatever it takes to make events of any size a smashing success from setup to breakdown.

Blues and Beyond Catering has already set new standards in local barbecue, and Nathan is excited that clients are now discovering the finer side of the plated catering. “Because we are part of a larger restaurant group, we’ve got a wealth of talent at our fingertips. We offer amazing catered dinners, which are coursed and include wine or bourbon service, as well as our great barbecue. Our seafood is amazing! Our crab cakes are delicious - people love them. ”

Nathan found out from a client that Blues and Beyond Catering was buzzing on weddingwire.com, a place where brides can go to plan, organize and find vendors.

One of the most memorable days Nathan recalls was a wedding in Middletown. “The bride and I were about to walk out, and I grabbed her hand, and said, ‘Look!’” She recalled how good it felt when they both looked down the rolling hill to behold the wedding unfolding in just the way the bride had envisioned. “It was the perfect moment - we all still talk about it. It was gorgeous, and it was special to be sharing it.”
