Vanderpump Rules star and dog activist Lisa Vanderpump and her husband Ken Todd continue their hard work in saving another dog’s life. As a part of their continued efforts to raise awareness and end the Yulin Dog Meat Festival, they sponsored the placement of one of their rescue puppies.
On Dec. 23, 2015, Vanderpump, Todd and Stop Yulin Forever co-founder Dr. John Sessa rescued Yulin Hope from a Chinese slaughterhouse with the help of the Duo Duo Animal Welfare Organization. Unbeknownst to them, Yuli, Yulin Hope’s new nickname, was pregnant and delivered four puppies Jan. 10.
The team has been actively searching for adequate homes for their four new Awareness Ambassadors - families that will not only nurture and care for their new family member, but will also continue the ongoing awareness campaigns spearheaded by Vanderpump herself.
On March 12 Sessa personally flew one of the puppies to the East Coast to meet her forever family. Sessa met members of the family - mother Stacie Loftus and daughter Claire - in Lancaster, Pa. Then the nearly 9-week-old puppy Lola, the litter’s only female, continued on to Bethany Beach to meet the rest of the family.
Her new family consists of a local financial planner Michael Loftus, Stacie, a vet technician, three children ages 16, 15 and 13 - Padraig, Clair and Brighid - and four furry playmates (two dogs, one of which is a rescue, and two rescued cats). The family and the community were very excited about her arrival.
The introduction was made through Sessa’s longtime friend and Michael Loftus’ twin sister Karen Loftus. Karen was introduced to the puppies by Sessa while they were in Los Angeles at only 2 weeks old. She wanted to adopt one of the dogs, but due to her crazy travel schedule, she knew she couldn't.
When Sessa posted on Facebook that it was time for the dogs to find a home, Karen got busy back on the East Coast, looking for a loving home that was near her. She wanted to find someone nearby, so she could somehow continue to keep a relationship going with one of the dogs.
The first person she thought of and called was her twin brother, Michael. The rest is puppy loving history.
Vanderpump and Todd are particularly excited for Lola’s new large family, as she has thus far been raised with seven other furry companions.
The entire Vanderpump family and Stop Yulin Forever team will continue tirelessly to raise awareness and find homes to benefit animals domestically and worldwide. Through StopYulinForever.org, the team aims to build strong relationships between dog-loving communities in the United States and animal advocates around the world.
