Major renovation of Tanger Outlets underway in Rehoboth

In keeping with Tanger’s ongoing commitment to providing customers with an exceptional shopping experience, the Tanger Outlet Center in Rehoboth Beach has announced a total façade renovation of its shopping center at the Tanger Bayside location beginning this month and at the Tanger Seaside location beginning in May. Both outlet shopping centers are approximately 19 years old and are located on Route 1 in Rehoboth Beach.

The renovation will begin at Tanger Bayside and will include not only a new paint scheme but also the construction of new tower elements that add depth to the façade. New siding, lighting, and architectural details will provide greater curb appeal and enjoyment for shoppers and neighbors. The eight-month project at Bayside also will feature the demolition of one building, the extension of another building, and the complete renovation of the public restrooms between Under Armour and VF Outlet.

Tanger Rehoboth’s Bayside location has a total of 23 brand-name and designer outlet stores, representing over 144,000 square feet of retail space, including Nike, Old Navy, Under Armour, Columbia Sportswear, and coming in June, The North Face. As renovations begin, shoppers will notice the addition of attractive architectural tower elements and other features in keeping with a coastal resort.

Tanger Rehoboth’s Seaside location has a total of 60 brand-name and designer outlet stores, representing over 238,000 square feet of retail space, including J.Crew, Banana Republic, Helly Hansen, Eddie Bauer, Brooks Brothers, Sperry, Calvin Klein, Gap, and Forever 21.

Tanger Rehoboth comprises three outlet properties within a two-mile stretch of Route 1 - dubbed A Mile of Style. In addition to Bayside and Seaside, Tanger Surfside, formerly Midway, received a total façade renovation in 2014.

The renovations are estimated to have an economic impact of $8.5 million. The project will employ between 150 and 200 local workers from start to finish, and at least 20 local firms will have substantial involvement.
