A group of Cape Henlopen High School juniors and seniors competed in the Delaware Technology Student Association's statewide VEX Robotics Competition at the Delaware State Fairgrounds April 14.
More than a dozen Cape High students joined nearly 18 other teams from across the state in the tournament, which challenges participants to develop and build robots to play in a game and compete in engineering-based matches.
This year's competition featured the game “Nothing But Net,” which required the robots to score goals by shooting balls into a net, much like a basketball game, on a 12-foot-by-12-foot square field. Robots must be pre-programmed to play the game for 15 seconds, followed by a 45-second manual operation.
