Empowering women is topic at Nanticoke Ladies Expo

May 18, 2016

The Nanticoke Indian Association's Annual Ladies Expo and Luncheon hosted Dr. Freda Lewis-Hall, Pfizer Chief Medical Officer to speak on Empowering Women.

Dr. Freda Lewis-Hall was welcomed by Nanticoke Indian tribal members and hundreds of community members Saturday, April 30 at the Georgetown CHEER Community Center.

Lewis-Hall is an advocate for empowering patients through access to information and appears regularly as a medical expert on Dr. Phil, The Doctors and Rachel Ray television shows.

Dr. Freda Lewis-Hall's comments included words of wisdom from her mother who always told her to be kind to everyone, because you never know what they are going through, even when they are mean to you, do not send that energy back to them.

She also wanted to share the many kinds of power a person can exhibit. She chooses a quiet demeanor which has served her well. When others are yelling, arguing, and puffing their chests out to crow the loudest, she becomes smaller and in that quiet smallness she holds the most power since she didn't join the fray by yelling.
