Dust n Time moves to commercial zone

Cleaning business vacates residential neighborhood
May 16, 2016

Jennifer Kellogg has moved her Dust n Time Cleaning Service to a commercial area after operating out of her home since 2010.

Sitting in a renovated, freshly-painted office in the Rehoboth Service Center off Route 1, Kellogg says she had always tried to be a good neighbor and not disrupt residents near her home on Field Lane near Rehoboth Beach.

But someone complained to Sussex County officials, and she had to apply for a conditional-use permit to operate a business in a residential-zoned area, which was eventually denied by county council.

Even before that action on April 5, she and her husband, Jimi Kellogg, owner of Just n Time Handyman Service, were preparing for the move. He's been busy over the past few weeks converting the two-level rental space into an office and warehouse for supplies and two sets of washers and dryers.

“We want to do the right thing; we knew it was time. We had planned to move,” she said. “We don't take this offensively.”

Kellogg has 15 employees who work a regular schedule, but she hires a team of 75 people to clean rental properties every Saturday on a four- or six-hour window turnaround time.

After working for Naturally Clean for two years, in 2009 Kellogg branched out and opened Dust n Time and in 2014 purchased the company she used to work for.

Dust n Time offers residential and commercial cleaning and handyman services. Phone 302-858-7876 for more information.
