Dover's Kathryn Ford goes hat trick on Cape for 3-1 win

Vikings need wins in final two games for winning season
May 12, 2016

Dover senior Kathryn Ford is a striker you don’t want trucking through the back line of your soccer defense. She is mustang fast and fearless, and makes the most of opportunities. The girl can finish.

At Legends Stadium May 10, Ford scored twice in the first half, settling down through balls before burying them in the back of the net at 10 minutes and 37 minutes to give the Senators a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Ford scored quickly in the second half (47:00) to record a hat trick. A penalty kick by Brooke Hollingsworth at 66:00 made the final score 3-1 in favor of the Senators.

Dover outshot Cape 8-4.

Cape senior goalie Olivia Baratto was credited with five saves, while Caroline Cashion of Dover had three.

Dover improved to 8-5 with the win, while Cape dropped to 6-7 with the loss.

The Vikings have games remaining with Wilmington Christian and Laurel. A pair of victories would result in a winning record and put the Vikings on the bubble for state tournament consideration.

Note: The Vikings honored graduating seniors Olivia Baratto, Carly Dmiterchik, Jennifer Stirrup and Sarah Smith at halftime.
