The first piece in Rehoboth Beach’s new municipal complex will be ready to go before Memorial Day.
Rehoboth Beach City Manager Sharon Lynn said the new parking department building at 30 ½ Lake Ave. would be up and running by Monday, May 23.
Lynn said the building is a secure, functional facility housing 28 seasonal staff responsible for meter enforcement, coin collection and coin transfer to and from the bank.
“This is an efficient design that will make servicing the public's needs friendly and safe,” she said.
The building will also house Rehoboth Beach Main Street, which Lynn said is fine-tuning a transition plan but is fully funded through the end of the fiscal year.
Meanwhile, the large hole in the ground at City Hall will now start filling up; Lynn said the elevator pits are under construction, the concrete for the basement is being poured and the building of the steel structure will soon be underway. She said the new city hall will open in June 2017.
