Alan 'Al' Vogel, electrical engineer
Alan “Al” David Vogel, 84, of Catonsville, Md. and formerly of Lewes, passed away, Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
Al was born August 11, 1931, in Pittsburgh, Pa. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951. Following his military service, he had a successful 35-plus-year career as an electrical engineer. In 1982, he founded Creative Assemblies Inc., a custom heating element manufacturing company, and worked there until his retirement in 1997.
Al was an avid golfer; he enjoyed gardening and was a self-made handyman with the ability to fix anything. He had a passion for World War II history.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Martin Vogel; and is survived by his son, Bernard Vogel; daughters Nancy Scaggs and Lisa Hardy; and seven grandchildren, Andrew, Adam, Thomas, Meredith, Audrey, Madeline and Claudia.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 18, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Elkridge, Md. A private internment will take place in Lewes at a later date.
