The Milton Theatre announced that the Mike McShane Trio will grace the stage with Barbara Parker for a night of jazz at 8 p.m., Friday, Aug. 5. With the straight-ahead jazz stylings reminiscent of 1960s bebop, this trio has become a fixture in the regional music scene. It will bring one back to the days of Lionel Hampton, Red Norvo and the swing-era vibe.
McShane launched his career in New York during the ‘80s, playing improvisational free jazz in clubs throughout the city and hitting the recording studio. After 10 years in the city, he relocated to southern Delaware and found his rhythm with other talented musicians. Over the past couple years The Mike McShane Trio was formed - composed of Mike on the drums, Joe Holt on the keys and vibraphonist Paul Midiri to round out the group.
The trio will be joined for this performance by vocalist Barbara Parker from Worton, Md., who fits right in with her love of the Great American Songbook and singers including Ella Fitzgerald, Mildred Bailey and Billie Holiday.
Tickets are $15-20. The Milton Theatre is at 110 Union St. in historic downtown Milton. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.miltontheatre.com or call 302-684-3038.
