Little League All-Stars get honored in Milton

Parade, dinner and accolades for their accomplishments

The Milton 9-10 and 11-12 Little League All-Stars were treated to a parade down Union Street, escorted by the Milton Police and Fire departments to the fire hall where the fire department hosted a dinner for the teams and their families. Each player and coach was presented with a House of Representatives tribute from Rep. Steve Smyk, R-Milton, and a State Senate tribute by Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes. The District 3 champions represented Delaware at the Mid-Atlantic Championships in Bristol, Conn., for the 11-12 group and Cranston, R.I., for the 9-10 team.

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
