Talbots opens doors at Tanger outlets

Talbots has opened in the Midway Tanger Outlet Center, offering classic style with a modern twist.

Founded in 1947 in Hingham, Mass., Talbots has shed its grandmother-only image to focus on chic and modern sportswear.  Actress Julianne Moore was the face of Talbots’  2011 Spring clothing line.

Core apparel includes knit and woven tops, cardigans, skirts and capri shorts. Talbots also sells a wide variety of accessories to spice up any outfit, from jewelry to a multitude of patterned scarves.

Meredith Paley, Talbots vice president of public relations, said the company's outlet stores serve the same demographic as Talbots retail stores: the 40ish woman.  Outlet stores appeal especially to shoppers who have a strong preference for value shopping, she said, noting it was customers who suggested opening outlet stores. To better serve value shoppers, the company decided to invest in outlet locations, Paley said.

In an effort to serve women of all sizes, Talbots carries sizes 0 petite to 24 women’s and everything in between.

The shop is open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Talbots is located at 35016 Midway Outlet Drive in Rehoboth Beach.
