Tidewater Environmental Services purchases wastewater treatment facility
Middlesex Water Company, a provider of water and wastewater and related services primarily in New Jersey and Delaware, has announced that its Delaware affiliate, Tidewater Environmental Services Inc., has acquired its seventh wastewater treatment facility. This facility serves The Ridings community, a relatively new 75-lot development in Lewes.
The wastewater plant is among several other nearby TESI-owned facilities providing wastewater services to residential developments within the region. TESI’s affiliate, Tidewater Utilities Inc., presently provides water service to customers of The Ridings and several other communities in the area.
“Based on the proximity of The Ridings to our TUI and TESI facilities, we expect that this acquisition will result in operational efficiencies from which our customers will benefit,” said Gerard L. Esposito, president of Tidewater Environmental Services. The plant is a 70,000-gallons-per-day sequential batch reactor facility using a drip irrigation disposal system which helps recharge the groundwater aquifer. At full build-out, the facility is expected to serve the existing 75 lots plus an additional 150 lots planned for development.
TESI presently provides wastewater services to approximately 1,900 residential retail customers in Delaware. Its affiliate, Tidewater, established in 1964, provides services to retail water and wastewater customers south of the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal. Through its affiliated companies, Tidewater serves a offers range of water and wastewater services including consulting, contract operations, maintenance, and bulk water supply. These companies are subsidiaries of the parent company, Middlesex Water Company, a leading provider of water service for over a century.
