Lewes drawbridge, looking toward the beach, in 1925

August 21, 2017

There has been a lot of discussion in the news lately about bridges in Delaware’s Cape Region.  This photo from the archives of Delaware’s Department of Transportation shows the Savannah Road drawbridge in Lewes, looking eastward toward Lewes Beach, in 1925. The bridge crossed the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal which was in its infancy at that point.
