Nanticoke Indian Powwow in 1994

September 13, 2017

The Nanticoke Indian Association celebrated its 40th annual Powwow last weekend near the shores of its ancestral home on Indian River.  The Powwow celebrates the history and culture of the Nanticoke people, helping to keep their traditions alive.  This photograph from the archives of Delaware’s office of economic development shows a group of Nanticoke children in full ceremonial regalia during the 17th annual celebration in 1994.
