Long before we knew about Plant-Based eating, we were planning to build an energy efficient home. Highly effective insulation was our top priority, so we learned about SIPs (structurally insulated panels). Moisture was an important concern, so we studied moisture barriers. Tight house heating and ventilation were big concerns, so we explored optimum systems for energy efficiency. For hot water, we installed solar hot water panels. Those roof-top panels qualified our home to be one of 15 stops on the Delaware Solar Tour Saturday, October 7, 12-4. Our interest in conserving energy and reducing greenhouse gases is not confined to the housing sector. Animal agriculture, for example, is responsible for up to 51 percent of greenhouse gases, most chronic diseases, and unspeakable animal cruelty—we live in an energy efficient home but we also eat no animal derived products.
During the Solar Tour from 12-4 on 10/7, I'll be in the kitchen serving up some of our favorite Plant-Based fare for tasting. We are eager to share with others what we have learned about solar power as well as plant power to reduce greenhouse gases and lead a kinder, gentler life.
