Chesapeake Eye Center opens new practice in Millsboro

February 14, 2011

Chesapeake Eye Center
, an eye-care practice on the Eastern Shore, recently opened a new office at 28417 Dupont Blvd., Millsboro.

Dr. Catherine Smoot opened Chesapeake Eye Center in Salisbury, Md., more than 20 years ago. Since then, the practice has grown and added two optometrists as well as two more ophthalmologists to staff offices in Berlin, Md., and now Millsboro.

Chesapeake Eye Center’s new location is completely handicap accessible and includes specialty equipment to help diagnose and manage vision problems as well as glaucoma, cataracts and retinal diseases, such as macular degeneration. The new space includes dispensing space for designer and value-line eyewear selections as well as an extensive supply of contact lenses, including specialty lenses such as toric and multifocals.

“I’m pleased to be moving Chesapeake Eye Center to Millsboro,” said Dr. Katherine Shuell. “This move will improve our patient experience by expanding our vision services and allowing easy parking and handicap access to our office. We are thrilled to be joining this community and a great mix of businesses that are steps away from our new location.”

Among the eye-care specialists are Dr. Jason Yonker, a fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist; Dr. Todd Bescak, who practices primary medical eye care and offers the latest technology in cataract surgery options; and Shuell, an optometrist specializing in primary care and contact lenses, including challenging or complicated cases.

The center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
