Arlett to run against Carper for U.S. Senate

April 16, 2018

Sussex County Councilman Rob Arlett announced April 16 that he will challenge U.S. Sen. Tom Carper for Congress.

Arlett made his announcement in Wilmington at noon with stops in Kent County and Sussex County. His 5 p.m. announcement to challenge the Democrat incumbent was held on The Circle in Georgetown after The Cape Gazette’s deadline.

Arlett, a Republican councilman representing the fifth district, was elected to Sussex County Council in 2014. In 2016, he was the Delaware state campaign chairman for Donald Trump. Arlett is the owner of Beach Bound Realty in Dagsboro, and he lives in West Fenwick with his wife, Lorna, and two sons.

Wilmington attorney Thomas Neuberger endorsed Arlett for the U.S. Senate seat held by Carper since 2001. “Tom needs to be replaced with new young blood,” he said.
