Fundraiser set Sept. 10 for local man with cancer

August 26, 2011

Come out and play for Pete! is the theme of Sussex Tech student Christy Nagle’s fundraiser to help a neighbor.

Nagle's goal as a Health Professions major at Sussex Tech in her upcoming senior year is to coordinate a successful fundraising event for a local man who has been stricken with liver cancer and is awaiting a transplant. Peter Dietze is a 28-year-old husband and father to a 19-month-old baby girl, and a new baby is on the way.

The event, a softball tournament which features local fire companies competing for the top spot, gets started at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 10, on the ball fields of Sussex Technical High School in Georgetown.  Each fire company is making a monetary donation to be part of the fundraising tournament.  The event is open to the public, and admission is $2.

Nagle hopes to have a fun-filled day with friends, family, and the general public coming together to enjoy watching the firefighters compete in friendly games of softball, have a bite to eat, and simply unite as a community to show support for this young man and his family.

Nagle and her family are looking to the community to be a part of a day that can make a real difference in the lives of  neighbors in their time of need. All donations will be directed to the Peter Dietze fund through White Chapel United Methodist Church in Milton.

Organizers are in need of grocery store gift cards or food/drink donations to be sold on the day of the event. For more info or to make a donation, contact Christy Nagle at 302-249-5456 or by email at clnagle2313@aol.com.

They thank donors in advance for support in this great cause.
