Outlet Liquors 5K draws 272 runners

Running in high heat is a half-baked idea
July 5, 2018

The Outlet Liquors 5K attracted 272 runners to Dewey Beach July 1, a day when it was best to keep moving, like a rotisserie chicken, so as not to get get fried on one side.

It took 58 minutes, and everyone made it back in one half-baked piece, many stating the obvious, “It’s hot out here,” while others joked, “Which way to the beer?”

Chad Carr, 42, from Bozeman, Mont., was the overall winner in 16:33. Carr was joined on the top 5 leaderboard by John Becker in 16:57, Joey Cintavey in 17:21, Bill McNary in 18:47 and Kevin Biallas in 19:13.

Lisa Veneziano, 53, from Fenton, Mich., was the overall women’s winner in 19:29. Veneziano got a drink, then went back out for a cool-down run; that’s the focus it takes to win a race. Joining her on the leaderboard were 12-year-old Nina Connors, 21:22; Megan Lambert, 21:52; Mardiny Ung, 23:03; and Amanda Ritter, 23:15.

Upcoming Races2Run events include the Kelly Fritchman Memorial 5K Saturday, July 7, at Lewes Irish Eyes, and the Dewey Beach Liquors at the Ivy 5K Sunday, July 8.
