Story Location:
Seaford, DE 19973

Four bridges in the Seaford area remain closed following a torrential downpour Sept. 8. More than 6 inches of rain fell in the afternoon causing flash floods reminiscent of serious flooding in the city in 2006. Many of the same hard-hit areas – including Wilmar Village, Chapel Branch on Route 20 and Woodland – were under water again.

According to Delaware Department of Transportation officials the following roads are closed in the Seaford area:

Route 20, Stein Highway, is closed between Shuffelt Road and the city limits, due to high water;

Ellis Mill Road between Woodland Ferry Road and Lonesome Road;

Old Carriage Road between Stein Hwy. and Woodpecker Road;

Boyce Road between Owls Nest Road and Chapel Branch Road; and

Woodpecker Road at the intersection with Route 542.

The following bridges are closed: Woodland Road, Craig’s Mill Road, Stein Highway and Boyce Road.
