Georgetown Christmas Parade to celebrate 50 years Dec. 6

The 50th Annual Georgetown Christmas Parade will step off at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6.

For the 50th year in a row, downtown Georgetown will play host to one of the biggest and best Christmas parades of the holiday season. The Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce is organizing the parade in partnership with the Town of Georgetown.

“Planning has already begun,” said Kevin Thompson, director of operations for the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce. “This year is the parade’s golden anniversary, and we want to make it our biggest and best yet! We’re excited to see all the floats, decorations, and costumes that our participants will create to celebrate this special milestone.”

The theme for this year’s parade is a A Solid Gold Christmas: 50 Years of Georgetown Christmas Parades. The procession will again culminate with the arrival of Santa Claus. As usual, scores of floats, marching bands, classic cars, fire engines and much more will participate.
