Humpback whale beached at state park

A humpback whale was found beached at the point at Cape Henlopen State Park Dec. 17.
Suzanne Thurmann, executive director of the Marine Education Research and Rehabilitation Institute, said the whale was on shore Dec. 16, but it took a day to bring in heavy equipment to bring it higher up the beach for examination. PHOTOS COURTESY OF MERR INSTITUTE
