Former Rehoboth Beach Commissioner Kathy McGuiness was officially sworn in as state auditor on Jan. 1 in the Old State House building in Dover, and she started work full time Jan. 2 in the office.
“To all Delawareans, regardless of party affiliation, I’d like to be clear: I will work hard to make sure your hard-earned tax dollars are being used appropriately and spent wisely,” she said to a crowd of about 50.
McGuiness unveiled several goals that she plans to achieve in her first 100 days, which include an audit of the auditor’s office by an outside firm to review office operations; reorganizing the office; filling open positions; researching best practices from state auditors’ offices nationwide; and analyzing office technology to ensure the office operates efficiently.
