Dan Mapes named director of Diagnostic Imaging at Beebe Medical Center

October 9, 2011

Beebe Medical Center announces that Dan Mapes, MPA, RT (N), CRA, has been promoted to the position of director of Diagnostic Imaging services. He is responsible for overseeing all radiology, MRI, CT, mammography, ultrasound and other diagnostic imaging services in the hospital and at the three satellite locations in Rehoboth Beach, Georgetown and Millville. The department has 117 employees.

Mapes takes over at a time of continued growth and expansion in the imaging services. Beebe Medical Center soon will install two state-of-the-art Philips imaging systems - the 256-slice iCT scanner and the 3.0 T big bore Ingenia MRI. These systems bring additional diagnostic capability to the medical center, and augment the focus on continually improving the quality and safety of patient care.

For the past six years, Mapes has served as department manager, overseeing operations and working closely with Department Director Barb Myers. Myers, after more than 20 years serving as director, will stay on with Beebe Medical Center as special projects coordinator for the Department, negotiating contracts for equipment and services. She also will help lead efforts to launch and expand imaging programs and services in support of Beebe Medical Center’s strategic plan.

Mapes, prior to joining Beebe Medical Center, was the director of Diagnostic Imaging at Hackley Hospital in Muskegon, Mich. He has a bachelor of science degree in nuclear medicine technology from Ferris State University, and a master’s degree in administration from Western Michigan University.
