A large crowd gathered in the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center parking lot May 4 to help dedicate Steve Elkins Way, a walkway that connects Baltimore Avenue at Second Street with the convention center. Several local LGTBQ advocates, and city and state officials spoke at the dedication, crediting Elkins and his husband, Murray Archibald, for making Rehoboth a safer, more welcoming city for the LGBTQ community. Elkins and Archibald founded CAMP Rehoboth in the 1990s and went on to advocate for passing pro-LBGTQ laws in the state, including marriage equality. Elkins died in March 2018 after a long battle with lymphoma.
