Summer League recap for the week of July 8, 2019
Elementary Division
Kailey McMahon who score with 5 seconds remaining on the game clock. In the second game of the night, the Dunes defeated the Waves by a score of 4-0. Layla Conn got the game winner near the end of the first half. Nina Schrader and Lorilyn Marsch (2) finished off the scoring for the team with their second half goals.
On Wednesday evening, the Tides pulled an upset with a 5-0 win over the Dunes. Kailey McMahon had the big night with a huge scoring outburst with all four goals credited to her. In the second game of the evening, the Guards and the Waves battled to a 1-1 result. Catherine Peranteau scored for the Guards while Ellen Ramsey had the goal for the Waves.
The semi-final games will be on Monday, July 15th on the turf at Cape Henlopen High School. The Dunes will face the Waves on field #1 and the Guards will play the Tides on field #2 with both games beginning at 6:00 pm.

Senior Division
Monday night’s play began with the Artics jumping off to a 2-0 lead in the opening five minutes of the game with a goal by Amanda Fruman followed by a goal from Lacy Bayley. The team then had to hang on through out the remained of the evening to earn the win over the Seahawks. In the second game of the night, the Pumas earned a 6-0 win over the Bengals with three goals in each half. Sommer Dorman had a hat trick with the other goals were scored by Anna Stancofski, LeeLee Wilson and Darby Klopp. The final game of the night was a 4-4 back and forth battle between the Corals and the Baffins. Morgan McGee and Ella Peterson put the Baffins into the lead in the opening half while Madi Cook scored for the Corals to keep it close at half. Olivia Sananikone added to the Baffins lead with her goal at 16:53 but CAmi Smith answered for the Corals. Peterson’s second goal increased the lead to two for the Baffins before Maggie Borelli and Cadence McMahon scored goals inside the 2:00 minute mark to earn the tie for the Corals.
On Wednesday night the Corals started play with a 3-2 win over the Pumas. Abby Kane scored at 16:59 to put the Pumas into the early lead but Avery Miller scored at 14:41 to even the game going into half. Sommer Dorman score at 12:22 to again give the lead to the Pumas but Madi Cook evened the score with her goal at 9:37. Cook followed with the game winner at 6:40. The second game of the night was another close battle between the Artics and the Baffins. The Baffins pulled off the win by a final of 4-3. Olivia Sananikone (2) and Ella Peterson got the Baffins off to a 3-0 lead at halftime. Hailey Moore scored for the Artics at 18:18 but Brynn McCabe got the winning goal at 16:13. Amanda Fruman then scored a pair of goals to pull the Artics to within one goal with 8:30 left in the game. Great back and forth play was the feature of the remaining play for the game. The final game of the night was a 2-2 result between the Seahawks and the Bengals. Kaleigh Cordrey scored to put the Bengals up by one going into halftime. Abby Anderson score to even the game at 12:38 of the second half. Rylie Cordrey again put the Bengals into the lead before Anderson again scored at 7:56 to earn the tie.
The Corals have earned to top seed in the championship game while their opponent will be determined on the final night of pool play on Monday, July 15th. The Bengals face the Baffins at 6:45 followed by the Pumas vs the Seahawks at 7:30 and ending with the Corals vs the Artics at 8:15.
