Frances E. Flaherty, devoted to family

Frances E. Flaherty, 91, of Lewes passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019, peacefully at her home.  She was born Aug. 26, 1927, in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Albert and Ruby Claggett.

Frances graduated from Anacostia High School in 1945.  She worked for many years for the Prince George's County, Maryland school board.  Above all, Frances was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend.  She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John B. "Jack" Flaherty; her brother, Albert "Buck" Claggett; and her son-in-law, Herbert Ecker.  She is survived by her children:  John F. Flaherty (Susan) of Bishopville, Md., Kevin B. Flaherty of Boca Raton, Fla., Beth Ecker of Lewes and Timothy J. Flaherty (Terri) of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; her grandchildren:  Jeffrey Flaherty, Kyle Flaherty Sr. (Amber), Tyler Ecker Naylor (Alex), Paul Ecker (Tricia), and Erin Flaherty;  her great-grandchildren: Malina Flaherty and Kyle Flaherty Jr.;  and her very special caregivers: Cassie and Shelly.

Services will be private.  Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Frances' memory to Meals on Wheels, 32409 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, Lewes, DE  19958.
