Lewes Christmas Parade ushers in the season

Nearly 90 entries took part in the 88th annual Lewes Christmas Parade on Dec. 7. Presented by the City of Lewes and Lewes Chamber of Commerce, this year’s parade committee chairmen were Craig Beebe and G.W. Thompson, taking the place of Dennis Forney and the late Tom King, who together co-chaired the committee for more than 35 years.

Bathed in purple light, students and staff from the University of Delaware College of Earth, Ocean and the Environment at the Hugh R. Sharp campus in Lewes catch the Christmas glow with their tribute to bioluminescence. The unique float won top honors as the most original entry in the 2019 Lewes Christmas Parade. The large Schell Brothers/Kids’ Cottage Toy Factory takes top honors in the commercial float division.
