The Fraternal Order of Police Sussex Lodge 2 partnered with Delaware State Police Troop 4 and the Millsboro and Lewes fire departments in a gift-giving event Dec. 22. A local family has been suffering hardships this year and word made its way to the FOP that they could use some holiday cheer.

The Arbrona family dined at the Country Kitchen in Millsboro, and Santa and his helpers came in and brought the family to the back room where there were dozens of gifts along a wall. Shown unwrapping gifts are (l-r) Janelys, Jatniel, Jamie, Jaydy, mother Maria and aunt Laudys Abrona.

Liz Scheor, left, a counselor with Delaware Hospice Camp New Hope, had spoken with Jatniel Arbrona and learned of the family’s difficulty. Scheor contacted FOP and the gifts started pouring in. Shown are (l-r) Scheor, Brian “Santa” Morley, and FOP Lodge 2 President Bob Schappert.
