Local youth attend NAACP state convention

March 11, 2020

The Delaware NAACP State Conference of Branches held its annual convention Feb. 29 at Delaware State University in Dover.

The event, originally set for November 2019, had been postponed and rescheduled. Despite the delay, both organizers and attendees agreed that the informative and inspirational convention was well worth the wait.

Dignitaries in attendance included Gov. John Carney, U.S. Sen. Chris Coons, Lt. Gov. Bethany Hall-Long, Delaware State University President Dr. Tony Allen, Dover Mayor Robin R. Christiansen and state conference Administrator Scot X. Esdaile. The event featured plenary sessions, workshops, officer elections, an awards ceremony and a luncheon featuring famed attorney Benjamin Crump, who delivered a stirring keynote address.
