Coastal Concerts happy hour talks to start April 19

Coastal Concerts has developed Musical Explorations virtual happy hours.

Musician and board member Lani Spahr will give these free talks on Zoom, an online meeting platform, at 4 p.m., Sundays, April 19, May 3 and May 17. Spahr is well known to Coastal Concerts audiences for his charismatic and informative preconcert talks. 

Viewers can grab a drink, find a comfortable chair and enjoy listening from the comfort of home. They must register online at www.delawarelibraries.libcal.com/event/6646948 to receive the Zoom link, which is the same for all three sessions.

Drawing on his many years of professional playing experience, Spahr will explore the oboe from its beginnings in the 17th century through its development up to today.
 An expert and virtuoso on period and modern oboes, Spahr was a member of Boston Baroque and the Handel and Haydn Society Orchestra of Boston. He is also an international award-winning audio restoration engineer, writer and producer.

The Story of the French Horn
 is set for May 3.To register for the French Horn talk, go to www.delawarelibraries.libcal.com/event/6646914. Spahr will explore the French horn from its beginnings as an instrument of the hunt through its development as a concert instrument as it is known today.

The Art and Science of Audio Restoration (or the making of a silk purse from a sow's ear)
 will be held May 17.

Those who register will receive a link via email the day before the scheduled presentation. The same ID and password can be used to attend all sessions.
