Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540 delivered lunch to the support staff at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes April 17. Phyllis Patterson, a lodge member and employee of Beebe Healthcare, noted during the coronavirus pandemic, the support staff including maintenance, security and registration staff, are an important part of the success of the hospital. Meals are delivered to doctors and nurses, and the support staff should also be recognized with a meal, she said.
The Elks purchased $500 of food from Villa Sorrento in Lewes to provide lunch for approximately 25 people. On the menu: meatballs, sausages, antipasto, rolls, lasagna, ravioli, penne with vodka sauce, chicken parmigiana, chocolate molten lava cake and cannoli.
The meal was enjoyed by the Emergency Department, lab employees, security staff and guest relations personnel. The employees in those departments were very appreciative and thanked both the Elks and the restaurant that prepared the food.
