James Coleman, Army veteran
James Coleman, 81, of Millsboro passed away Sunday, April 26, 2020.
James, affectionately known as Lang, was born to Mr. Woodrow and Mellie S. Coleman Sept. 25, 1938, in Eutaw, Ala. He was reared in Bessemer, Ala. He was educated in the Jefferson County public school and graduated from Wenonah High School; he later joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. James Coleman was united in Holy Matrimony to Rosie L. Snead Sept. 16, 2000.
He worked for Chrysler for quite a few years and retired from Star Cleaning Services. He was a faithful and devoted member of Trinity Holiness Church in Frankford. He loved his church and his church family.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Mellie Coleman; father, Woodrow Coleman; wife, Rosie Coleman; sister, Luvenia Brice; and brothers, Nelson and Roosevelt Coleman. Left to cherish his memories are four stepsons Raymond Snead of Millsboro, Jimmy Snead (Sherri) of Millsboro, Jeff Snead (Shell) of Laurel and Greg Snead of Salisbury, Md.; a loving and devoted sister, Mrs. Nellie C. Sanders of Birmingham, Ala., whom he loved dearly and spoke with every other day until he became ill; nieces: Robbie C. Lewis of Birmingham, Verna (Daniel) Corner of Birmingham, Odessa (Charles) Cole of Greensboro, N.C., Odis Jones of Birmingham, Larry (Betty) Jones of Fayetteville, N.C., Carol J Jones and Vernessa J. Wallace of Lipscomb, Ala., Rufus Powell of Birmingham, Richard Brice, Robert Brice and Jacqueline Brice, all of Wilmington; a very special great-niece, Narisha Jones, Lipscomb; and very special great-nephews Darrell O’ Sanders (Tonja) Sanders of Birmingham, James (Lannetta) Morgan of Harken Heights, Texas; cousins: Mrs. Nellie L. Campbell of Boston Mass., Mrs. Verlie Booker of Lipscomb, Ms. Sarah Sanders, Ms. Janie Mae Davis, all of Bessemer, Ala.; Bernice Barnes of Eutaw; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
A private service will be held due to the coronavirus pandemic and state of emergency. He will be laid to rest at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
