Jody Lynn Moore, hairdresser

Jody Lynn Moore, 55, of Milton passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Seasons Hospice Center & Palliative Care in Newark after her battle with Leukemia. She was born April 8, 1965, in Milford.

Jody loved to read, listen to ‘80s music, and sing backup to her sister's sudden outbursts of ‘80s music. She enjoyed coloring, playing games, and spending time with family and friends. Jody cherished the visits with her daughter and three grandsons who live in South Dakota.

Jody graduated from the Stewart School of Cosmetology in Sioux Falls, S.D. While employed as a hairdresser, she had the opportunity to cut and style Kevin Costner's mother's hair. Kevin's mother was visiting him while he was filming “Dances with Wolves” in South Dakota. Sadly, she did not get to style Kevin Costner's hair, or her story may have had a completely different tale to tell. 

Jody was preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents. She is survived by her father, Richard D. Dunsmore and his wife Julie; her mother, Karlyn V. Johnson; her daughter, Amber Jo Herren; and three grandsons; her son, Austin M. Moore; her sister, Karen M. Dunsmore; her nephew, Brandon D. Dunsmore; her brother, Richard H. Dunsmore and his wife Nalani and their three (two nieces and one nephew) children; and several aunts and cousins. 

All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Jody's memory to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Delaware, 1300 N. Grant Ave., Suite 100, Wilmington, DE 19806.
