Dewey commissioners meet Aug. 14

Dewey Beach commissioners will meet virtually at noon, Friday, Aug. 14. A link to the meeting is available at www.townofdeweybeach.com. Commissioners will possibly vote to accept the final audit for the 2019-20 year, to approve a Go Fund Me for beach wheelchairs, to create a town manager search committee and to extend ordinance 756 relating to face masks and social distancing requirements.

Dewey budget committee to meet

The Dewey Beach budget and finance committee will meet virtually at 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14. A link to the meeting is available at www.townofdeweybeach.com. Members will review updates to the fiscal year to date and discuss most recent financial results, including actual vs. budget and year-over-year comparisons, and will discuss audit and internal control recommendations.

Intersection work on Georgetown roads set

The Delaware Department of Transportation will be making intersection improvements on several roads in the Georgetown area from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 17.

• Zoar Road and Peterkin Road, all-way stop. DelDOT will be restricting left-turn movement along westbound Zoar Road onto Patriots Way and restricting northbound movement along Patriots Way at Zoar Road.

• Zoar Road and Cedar Lane/Patriots Way intersection, conversion to a one-way stop on eastbound Patriots Way.

• Patriots Way and Peterkins Road, one-way stop.

Rehoboth planners meet Aug. 14

The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission has scheduled an online meeting for 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, on the city’s Civicweb portal. The agenda calls for public hearings on the Clear Space Theatre Company project at 413, 415 and 417 Rehoboth Ave. There will also be a discussion on the comprehensive development plan.

Members of the public who wish to participate must preregister with Ann Womack, city secretary, at awomack@cityofrehoboth.com at least two full business days prior to the meeting. Sussex P&Z meeting is Aug. 13

Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda are public hearings on proposed updates to the county’s property maintenance ordinances. See a complete agenda at www.sussexcountyde.gov. Eastern Sussex Dems endorse Coons 

Eastern Sussex Democrats voted overwhelmingly to endorse Sen. Chris Coons for re-election after recently listening to both candidates.  

In making the endorsement, ESD President Kathy Hughes said: “Delaware and the nation need the leadership Sen. Coons provides through his integrity, pragmatic effectiveness and dedication to social justice.”
