Georgetown Boy Scout Troop 95 stays active
The Boy Scouts of Troop 95 from Georgetown are not letting COVID-19 stop them. They are having meetings, wearing masks and socially distancing while working on requirements.
At the September Court of Honor, scouts were presented with their earned merit badges and rank advancements, and enjoyed a great slide show.
Many of the scouts and leaders participated in the September weekend campout at Pocomoke State Park in Maryland. Everyone enjoyed a bike ride on the Algonquin Trail. The 26 scouts and leaders biked a total of 17 to 20 miles. When dinnertime rolled around, patrol cooks were busy preparing meals, from chicken and shrimp teriyaki kabobs to chicken alfredo with broccoli to chicken jambalaya. There were no leftovers, which is always a good sign of great food.
Several scouts assisted at the historic Georgetown Train Station, welcoming visitors and providing rides on Lil Toot! Many scouts also worked the chicken barbecue fundraiser in September while others helped get an Eagle Scout project started.
October looks like another busy month already for the scouts, with a campout at Trap Pond as the troop hosts the fifth-grade Arrow of Light Scouts for the weekend. More service projects to be scheduled, another fundraiser as well and the usual weekly scout meetings.
