Howard William ‘Bill’ Bowman III, pipefitter

Howard William "Bill" Bowman III, 69, of Georgetown passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020.  He was born Oct. 16, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of Peggy Helen (Smith) Bowman and the late Howard William Bowman Jr.

Mr. Bowman graduated from Lewes High School/Cape Henlopen High School in 1970.  He was known to many as "Dollar Bill"  and was a well-respected and proud member of Plumbers and Steamfitters UA Local Union 486 for the past 45 years.  He retired from UA Local Union 782 in 2013.  He was a perfectionist when it came to welding and pipe fitting and truly a master of his craft.  He was a proud U.S. Coast Guard veteran and a member of American Legion Post 28.  Mr. Bowman enjoyed 4-wheeling, hunting, camping, welding and woodworking.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his son, Howard W. Bowman IV; and a brother, Robert A. Bowman.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Donna A. Bowman of Georgetown; two sons, Jonathan (Veronica) Bowman of Millsboro and Burton Zachary (Cortney) Bowman of Falling Waters, W.Va.; three daughters: Ruth Ann Whittam of Easley, S.C., Kristen (Brent) Jackson of Georgetown and Amanda (John) Collins of Georgetown; 13 grandchildren: Katlyn Bowman, Autumn Bowman, Howard William Bowman V, Jesse Bowman, Lucas Bowman, Lance Whittam, Macy Whittam, Emma Jackson, Lilyana Collins, Caden Collins, Willow Bowman, Penelope Bowman and Alyssa Bowman; a sister: Jo Ann (Charles) Warrington of Harbeson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
