Joseph Donohoe, sports enthusiast
Joseph “Joe” Donohoe, 65, of Millsboro, formerly of Wilmington, died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.
Joe was born Sept. 19, 1946, in Wilmington, to Sophie and Joseph Donohoe. He graduated from Salesianum High School in 1964 and Goldy Beacom College in 1968. Joe served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Joe was a sports enthusiast his entire life. He played baseball, managed the Salesianum basketball team, coached St. Helena’s basketball and rooted for his favorite teams. Most recently, Joe enjoyed being an active member of American Legion Post 28 and traveling with his wife.
Joseph is predeceased by his father, Joseph W. Donohoe. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Dougherty Donohoe; daughter, Catherine Colleen Williamson (Brian) and their children, Kyle Thomas and Patrick Joseph; daughter, Lisa Christine Donohoe; his mother, Sophie Lougheed Donohoe; sister, Ann Doody (Art); niece, Andrea Doody (fiancé Jim); and many loving stepchildren, stepgrandchildren and cousins, especially Joyce Ainscow Houston and Blanche Ainscow Capuano.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 30, at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave. at Laurel Street, Rehoboth Beach, where visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m.
