Kent County Tourism offers three social media workshops starting Jan. 26

January 3, 2012

In its ongoing efforts to provide cutting-edge training programs for the hospitality industry and the business community in Kent County, Kent County Tourism will offer three social media marketing workshops starting in January to give local businesses a jump-start in 2012.  All workshops occur from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1706 N. DuPont Highway in Dover.

Marketing Your Business With Facebook is scheduled Thursday, Jan. 26.   This workshop will demonstrate how to create a community on Facebook, provide examples of successful strategies to promote a business, and demonstrate utilization of landing pages, content and contests. The workshop will help users identify different strategies to gain new customers while retaining existing customers.

Marketing Your Business With Twitter will occur Thursday, Feb. 23. It will cover ways to create a following on Twitter, provide examples of successful strategies, and address how to find content, use of Hashtags and Favorites for marketing, re-tweeting to increase audience and how to find a business Klout score.

Marketing Your Business with Constant Contact comes Thursday, March 29.  This workshop will explore the inexpensive and highly effective way to build relationships that are key to all successful businesses. Included will be writing compelling headlines and content; increasing deliverability and the odds of having e-newsletters opened; how to turn readers into frequent buyers, donors or supporters; how to leverage this tool more effectively; and best email marketing practices.

The three-hour workshops, cosponsored by the Hilton Garden Inn of Dover, will be taught by Nancy Dibert of Epic Marketing. Dibert has experience as a small business owner and brings a wealth of knowledge in the areas of business development, professional training and corporate meeting planning to help businesses small and large as well as nonprofits achieve success.

"We will leverage training and business development expertise to help local businesses maximize the power of relationship marketing through the use of online communication tools," Dibert said. "We are experienced forerunners in digital advertising and classic branding intelligence with digital innovation."

Cost of each workshop is $25, or $60 for all three, and must be paid in advance to hold a space, due to limited seating. To register, go to http://doversocialmedia.eventbrite.com/?ref=estw or call 302-734-4888.
