Anyone who got a COVID-19 shot before Jan. 22 and still needs a second shot can make an appointment Tuesday, Feb. 23, for a vaccination event later this week at Dover International Speedway.
The vaccination events will be held Thursday and Friday, Feb. 25 and 26, for anyone who got their first dose 35 days ago or more from a pharmacy, medical provider, clinic or other source in Delaware, officials said.
Those being vaccinated at the Federal Emergency Management Agency event must have a vaccination card that shows they received their first dose on or before Jan. 22, officials said. Vaccinations are for individuals who live, work or obtain their healthcare in Delaware, and received their first dose in Delaware.
Scheduling for these second-dose appointments will open at 11 a.m. at de.gov/fema. Those without internet access may call DPH at 1-833-643-1715 but should not call before 11 a.m. Tuesday because no appointments will be available until then. Wait time may be lengthy based on call volume, and online registration is urged.
Scheduled appointments will be canceled for those who received their first dose after Jan. 22.
Individuals can create an appointment for someone else after they create their own. However, officials said, appointments are expected to fill quickly, and people may not be able to make family appointments for the same time frame. A single email may be tied to multiple appointments. Everyone who arrives to be vaccinated must have an appointment.
Those with appointments should show up close to their appointment time and:
- Enter the speedway grounds at 1000 Leipsic Road, not the main entrance from Route 13
- Have a full tank of gas
- Have personal identification (a driver’s licenses or photo ID)
- Show proof of first COVID-19 vaccination (vaccination card)
- Provide confirmation of their appointment
- Bring snacks to enjoy while waiting in line.
DPH also announced that the about 2,000 individuals vaccinated by DPH at the Chase Center in Wilmington Jan. 30 are being contacted this week to schedule their second dose back at the Chase Center on Saturday, Feb. 27.
