DC2NY launches Beach Bus for Washington, D.C. travelers

May 21, 2010

Beginning Memorial Day weekend, the Washington, D.C.-based bus company DC2NY will put a toe in the water to see if taking passengers to two of the most popular beaches in the region has any legs.

After many years of driving to and from his home in Rehoboth, DC2NY CEO Richard Green decided on a new route expansion and launches the Beach Bus, a weekend bus service to Rehoboth Beach and Dewey Beach.

DC2NY will offer service, beginning Memorial Day weekend, on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

“We know others have tried a bus serving Rehoboth only and had limited success,” said Green. “However, we know that our friends and many of our Dupont Circle customers want to go to both beach communities - Rehoboth and Dewey - and don’t want to begin their weekend with a drive.” The two communities are linked by a trolley service.

“Everyone we’ve talked to including civic leaders believe that the service will be a big success, as it is one of their favorite destinations and where everyone agrees that the fewer cars on the road the better,” Green said. In Rehoboth DC2NY will have its stop behind the Rehoboth fire station near the town’s recycling center.

In Dewey, DC2NY will pick up and drop off passengers at the landmark Lighthouse and Que’ Pasa restaurants at Ruddertowne.

DC2NY, nearing the celebration of three years serving the Washington, D.C. market, will offer the same quality buses and amenities like free wi-fi access, electric outlets and bottled water, which it successfully offers on its trips to New York City from three locations in Washington, D.C.

The customer promise remains the same – convenient locations, clean bathrooms and comfortable buses. For more information, see dc2ny.com.
