DBF’s Scrutchfield attains professional engineer license in Delaware
Davis, Bowen & Friedel Inc. announced that Andrew J. Scrutchfield, PE, recently passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering Exam administered by the National Council of Examiners for Engineering Surveying and is now officially a licensed engineer in Delaware.
A Lewes native and a graduate of New Jersey’s Stevens Institute of Technology, Scrutchfield received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. Shortly thereafter, he began the process to become a licensed engineer after successfully passing the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam in 2016. After graduating, he worked on the design, implementation and inspection of several large coastal engineering projects throughout New York and New Jersey, while also obtaining his master’s degree in ocean engineering with a concentration in coastal engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology.
With more than five years of coastal engineering experience, Scrutchfield and was able to take the Civil Engineering Exam in April.
Scrutchfield joined the firm in 2020 after relocating to the Eastern Shore, where he has been working in the coastal engineering department from DBF’s Easton, Md. office. Scrutchfield has taken on vital roles on several of DBF’s ongoing coastal projects including site planning for living shoreline mitigation, stone groin rehabilitation, bulkhead replacement and floating dock installation for a private client.
