Thanks for covering DEC election

September 3, 2021

I am in the process of reading “The Division of Light and Power” by Dennis J. Kuchinich, and it occurred to me that the Cape Gazette is to be commended in its recent coverage of the election that took place recently at the Delaware Electric Co-op.

It was an election where only a few percentage of people actually voted and where there were a number of opponents also running for the same positions.  Those of us who get their electric from Delaware Electric Co-op are actual members who can attend their meetings and participate in decisions.

Not only were we members not informed about this election; (Did it get noted in a flyer along with our monthly bill?) but do we the people even know what the issues are?  If it were not for the Cape Gazette, many would never know an election had taken place.  In this day and age, it is of utmost importance to be on guard to protect anything that is part of the common good.  One by one they are disappearing.  I chide myself as well as others in not voting here or even knowing about the other candidates.

Dennis Kucinich faced bodily harm in his saving a public electric utility in Cleveland, Ohio, years ago as told in this new book.
