Mark Gregory Young, had huge personality
Mark Gregory Young, 45, was born Feb. 2, 1976, and died Friday, Oct. 1, 2021.
Mark was born and raised in Dover. He graduated from Dover High School in 1994. Mark attended Wesley College and graduated with his AS before committing his life to the health and wellness of others. A highlight of Mark’s accomplishments include being recognized among the Top Ten Personal Fitness Trainers on the East Coast. Throughout his life he bartended along the Eastern Shore. With his larger-than-life personality, he was constantly making friends and lifelong memories. Mark met his wife Carolyn in 2010 at the Delaware Tech program for table games dealer. They began working table games together at the Dover Downs Casino and quickly fell in love. In 2011, they happily welcomed their daughter Brooke into the world together. They were married in 2016 before God and all of their loved ones. In 2020, Mark began a successful real estate career with his wife Carolyn.
Mark had a passion for sports; growing up he played football and was a lifelong 49ers fan. He made the transition from player to coach after pursuing a semi-pro football career. Mark coached at several high schools in Delaware, and at the time of his death, he was the offensive line coach at his alma mater, Dover High School.
Mark was a motivator, a huge personality, and at 6-feet-5-inches with the nickname “Monster,” he was the biggest teddy bear of a guy you could meet. Mark was kind, compassionate and funny. His love for others shined through in every facet of his life. It didn’t matter where he went, he always knew a friend or two. Mark will be missed dearly by everyone who met him.
Mark is preceded in death by his father Gregory Young and brother David Craig.
Mark is survived by his mother, Mary L. Craig-Young; his wife, Carolyn J. Young; children Aiden, Brandon, Collin and Brooke-Lynn Young; his siblings, John Craig (Jaazer), Bryant Craig (Ophelia); stepchildren, Amanda Bentley (Michael), Kurt Bentley (Katelyn), and Tyler Bentley (Hailey); two grandchildren; and 10 cherished nieces and nephews.
Mark had a strong faith in God and worked on his relationship with him daily. We draw comfort knowing he is home with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
