When Benny Benack III played a show at Nassau Valley Vineyards earlier this year, he was invited back to perform at the True Blue Jazz Festival. Organizers Peggy Raley and Eddie Sherman thought it might be fun to pair Benack with another artist, and Cyrille Aimée fit the bill. The two shared the stage Oct. 16 at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel in Rehoboth Beach for a show unlike any other.
Benack, a trumpeter, is following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, both of whom are talented jazz musicians. Benack also showcases his strong jazz vocals on many songs.
Aimée is a Grammy-nominated vocalist who performs songs in multiple languages. Originally from France, Aimée has won several jazz competitions and released a dozen albums, including “Move On” in 2019, featuring cover versions of songs by Stephen Sondheim.
