Bayhealth welcomes GI specialist Dr. Muhammad Hanafi
Bayhealth announced the addition of Muhammad Hanafi, MD, to Bayhealth Gastroenterology, Dover. He is a gastroenterologist, also called a GI doctor, who specializes in the health of the digestive system.
Hanafi cares for patients with a range of gastrointestinal conditions, and performs colonoscopies, endoscopies and other procedures to prevent and treat diseases of the digestive tract, including colorectal cancer. He joins Bhavin Dave, MD, and Stephanie Nguyen, PA-C, in the practice. Hanafi is now accepting new patients.
The practice is part of Bayhealth Medical Group, a partnership of highly trained physicians, their clinical staff and an administrative support team that operates practices throughout central and southern Delaware.
“We are very excited that Dr. Hanafi is joining our practice,” said Dave. “He has strong clinical expertise, and a kind and caring demeanor that will greatly benefit our patients. He is helping us broaden access to high-quality GI care in our community.”
Before joining Bayhealth, Hanafi was at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Okla. There he completed an internal medicine residency as well as his gastroenterology fellowship training. He is a graduate of the Ziauddin Medical College in Pakistan.
In 2019, Hanafi was the winner of the 2nd Annual Academic Debates hosted by the American Liver Foundation, which attracts fellows and learning physicians from a variety of major academic institutions. He is a current member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterological Association.
