William T. Spooner American Legion Post 17 held a Veterans Day ceremony in the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. Maj. Gen. Craig L. LaFave, retired U.S. Air Force, served as the guest speaker for the event.
The morning ceremony also featured remarks from Post Commander Mike Mulligan, Auxiliary President Gail Sellazzo and Sons of the American Legion Squadron 17 Commander Doug Spelman.
Awards were presented to individuals who have been legionnaires for 50 and 60 years, while local vocalist Jgar Helwig performed the national anthem and “Quest.”
Cape Henlopen JROTC presented colors and arms prior to the ceremony.
