Beebe Medical Group welcomes OB/GYN Afua Nyanin

Beebe Medical Group welcomes board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist Afua Nyanin, MD, to its women’s health team.

“We are pleased to announce Dr. Afua Nyanin is joining our women’s health team to provide needed obstetrical and gynecological care to our community,” said Stephen Keiser, Beebe Medical Group vice president/chief administrative officer. “Please welcome her to Sussex County and team Beebe as we work to continue to improve access to care in many areas of healthcare.”

After receiving her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and medical degree at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, Nyanin completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore and the West Virginia University/Charleston Area Medical Center.

Prior to joining Beebe, Nyanin worked at Luminus Health Chesapeake Women’s Health in Easton, Md. She is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She has numerous leadership and teaching experiences, as well as published research and presentations. Her passions include integrative medicine, sexual health and infertility.

“I am very excited to join Beebe,” said Nyanin. “I came here because of its family-like environment, and access to patients and co-workers from all walks of life. I am passionate about the overall health of women, including our physical, reproductive, and mental well-being, to name a few aspects. My philosophy is to treat the whole individual.”

Nyanin joins Beebe Medical Group, which includes 20-plus specialty offices in more than 40 locations throughout Sussex County. When patients see providers within the Beebe Medical Group, they enjoy the experience of seamless electronic medical correspondence between office visits, outpatient facilities and the hospital.

Practices include the specialties of cardiothoracic surgery, dermatology, endocrinology, family medicine, gastroenterology, general and bariatric surgery, hospital medicine, infectious diseases and travel medicine, internal medicine, pediatric neurology, pulmonary and sleep disorders, surgical oncology, urology, vascular surgery and women’s healthcare.

Four walk-in care centers serve the community from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily in Rehoboth Beach, Georgetown, Millsboro and Millville. The group also operates three school-based health centers at Cape Henlopen, Sussex Central, and Indian River high schools.
