Mindfulness and healing for teens program accepting applications

April 5, 2022

Sussex County resident Jenna Montalbano, a certified trauma professional and certified drug and alcohol counselor, has created a program for adolescents, teens and adults that is proving effective in preliminary research for decreasing symptoms across multiple disorders.

Heal Yourself: Integrative Self-Healing Therapy Program, the program's official title copyrighted in March 2022, is one of the first programs to integrate multiple evidence-based counseling strategies to produce positive outcomes for multiple issues.

Applications are open for her 12-week teen and adolescent program for stress management and communication skills, to be held virtually starting Monday, June 13. Due to the growing need for these skills among Delaware residents, multiple scholarships to the program will be awarded.

This program is being independently studied by the Present Center for Mindfulness and Healing LLC, under the mentorship of Dr. Jenna Tedesco, and is thus far proving equally  effective in individual and group formats in decreasing symptoms for multiple mental health issues including but not limited to anxiety, depression, PTSD, Bipolar II, borderline personality disorder, eating disorders, substance use disorders, self-harm and suicidal ideations. Overall, it is proving to help reduce stress in individuals without underlying mental health conditions.

The program integrates what Montalbano believes to be some of the most effective evidence-based strategies, using informed approaches of dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior and processing therapy, emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness and somatic experiencing. Its aim is to reduce stress, impulses, and unskilled thoughts and behaviors, while teaching stressful-event processing, emotion regulation and communication skills.

Her next 18-week adult program will open in the fall. Montalbano keeps her cohorts small so only 12 clients participate in a group.
